ONU Men's Soccer Going for Gold!

It's that time of the year! The OAC tournament is underway. The Polar Bears took the second place spot in the regular season standings, giving them a first round bye in the OAC tournament. Otterbein are the new champions of the OAC regular season and they also earned a first round bye in the tournament. The first round competitions took place yesterday in Alliance, Ohio where Mount Union took on Marietta, and also in University Heights where John Carroll took on Capital. Both games came down to the wire as every team was fighting to stay alive and advance to the semi-final. Both games were very intense as they both went to extra time leaving fans on the edge of their seat to see if their team could find the game winning goal to see them through. John Carroll found that goal in the final 18 seconds of the game to close out their game and advance to play Otterbein in the semi-final in Columbus. On the other side, Mount Union came out on top with a goal in the final 2 minutes of the game to see them through to the semi-final against the Polar Bears in Ada.

The Polar Bears have had a solid week of training in preparation for their OAC tournament match against Mount Union. The chemistry between the team is flowing at an all time high this season heading into post-season play. Coming off of multiple wins in the conference gives the boys all of the confidence in the world to take down Mount Union for the second time this season. The first match-up between us was a barn burner as they were undefeated heading into conference play. Now that we have beat them once, it is crucial that we execute our gameplan to beat them a second time. Mount Union is going to want revenge after we gave them their first loss of the season in the regular season. They have a ton of talent across the field and a deep bench that can catch us on our heels. We pride ourselves on defending our home turf at all costs and we understand that if we want to make it to the NCAA tournament, it is crucial that we win the OAC tournament. ONU Men's Soccer has not won the OAC tournament since 2015 and winning the conference tournament would be a monumental victory for the program. We know that we have the talent and the chemistry to accomplish our aspirations of winning a National Championship. If we stick to the gameplan and we trust each other on the field, we can accomplish anything.

The Polar Bears face-off against Mount Union tomorrow night 11/2 at 7:00pm to advance to the OAC final against the winner of Otterbein and John Carroll.

Go Bears!
