Social Media Marketing Campaigns

In chapter 13 from the book "Essentials of Social Media Marketing," it talks about social media marketing campaigns. "A campaign refers to a set of planned and coordinated activities geared toward achieving a goal." Setting goals within an organization is extremely important because it will motivate employees to be more effective and productive. Marketers have adopted using integrated marketing campaign which involves using marketing tools that revolve around the goals of the organization. According to the book, some examples of integrated marketing communications include advertising, SEO, social media marketing, and web marketing. When using social media as your main form of marketing, it is important for them to reach a broader target market. Using social media makes it easier to determine your target market and promotes a wide range of consumers. Another idea that social media marketers use is the AIDA model which stands for attention, interest, desire, and action. This model represents a consumer’s attention span to a product and how long it takes them to notice a product and purchase a product. Using the AIDA model is something that every social media campaign should adopt to optimize their social media platforms and generate more sales.

There are many steps that marketers must take to build a social media campaign. Some of these steps include goal setting, choosing a theme, and developing a target market. The list goes on however it is essential for these steps to be followed because an organization can't be effective without goals and objectives and a target market. There are many companies like Starbucks, Dove, and HBO that have excelled using their social media marketing campaigns. Therefore, researching what they did to build their brand can give an aspiring organization idea to build their own brand. Choosing the right social media platforms is also an essential part of a marketing campaign. Knowing your target market and what platforms most of them use can help an organization generate more ad revenue and overall sales. The frequency at which an organization posts is just as important because no consumer wants to be bombarded by advertisements every day by the same company. With that being said, a company should spread out across each week their posts to give themselves the best chance. The last thing is that companies must analyze their data that they receive from their consumers to know what their consumers like seeing on social media and what they don't like to see.
